OFFICIAL RAX 🎱 BALL

RULES

1. RESPECT

Find your opponent. Say hello and shake hands!

Always show great sportsmanship!

2. WHO BREAKS?

LAG or flip a coin. Winner breaks!

3. THE BREAK.

All breaks must be shot from anywhere behind the head string (in the kitchen)

The cue ball must strike the head ball or the 2 balls behind the head ball first to complete a legal break. Failing to do so is a foul and the opposing player will shoot from anywhere behind the head string (in the kitchen).

Also, 4 or more balls MUST touch a rail to complete a legal break. Failing to do so will result in the following:

a) The opposing player has the choice to break.

b) gives a 2nd chance to the original player who was breaking.

No 3rd chances are allowed.

If a player pots the 8 on the break, that player WINS the game.

4. AFTER THE BREAK & CHOOSING BALLS.

After the break, the table remains open regardless of what or how many balls were potted. Players still have choice of balls.

During an open table, players can combo a solid to a stripe and take stripe. The 8 ball can be used a as a combination shot also but CAN NOT be hit first.

Also during an open table, if a player calls a shot, makes it but scratches, the table is STILL OPEN. That ball stays down, and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

5. LEGAL SHOTS.

Players MUST strike their ball first to complete a legal shot.

After striking your ball first, any ball MUST touch a rail to complete a legal shot. Failing to do so will result as a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If an object ball is FROZEN to a rail, that rail does not count. It MUST touch another rail OR the cue ball OR any ball must touch a rail. Failing to do so will result as a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

Players MUST call every shot before shooting. No flukes allowed. Players only have to call the ball and pocket they are going for.

Players can use ANY balls on the table for combination shots, including the 8 ball.

If a ball is made in the WRONG pocket, it is a loss of turn. That ball stays down and the opposing player will shoot from where the cue ball landed.

During a shot, if no balls are touched at all or you strike the wrong category of balls, it is a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If an object ball is popped off of the table, it gets re-spotted on the rack spot. This will result as a loss of turn; however, it is NOT ball in hand. The opposing player will shoot from where the cue ball landed. If the cue ball is popped off of the table, it is a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand. While shooting, a player MUST have at least one foot touching the floor. Failing to do so will result in a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

6. BAD HITS.

Scoop shots are NOT allowed. Doing so will result in a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

Masse shots are allowed but you CAN NOT break down your stick.

Jump shots are allow WITHOUT scooping the cue ball.

Jump sticks, break sticks are allowed. Players can switch cue sticks at any time during the game/match. Short sticks are allowed for tight areas. It is LEGAL to use your jump stick as a short stick. USING A SHAFT ONLY IS NOT ALLOWED. It will result as a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

7. ACCIDENTALLY MOVED BALLS.

While shooting, any object ball that is accidentally moved (including the 8 ball) must be re-spotted back to the original place OR the opposing player gets to choose to leave it where it landed.

If the cue ball is accidentally moved, it is a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If any object ball (including the 8 ball) is accidentally moved during a ball in hand, it is a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If an object ball is accidentally moved and potted into a pocket, that ball stays down, it is a loss of turn and the opposing player will shoot from where the cube ball landed.

If the cue ball is accidentally moved and potted into a pocket, it is a loss of turn, and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If the 8 ball is accidentally moved and potted into a pocket, it is a loss of game and the opposing player wins the game.

8. CLOSE HITS.

If a player shoots a split shot and hits a stripe and solid AT THE SAME TIME, (or the 8 ball), it is a legal shot and is NOT a foul.

(tie goes to the runner)

It is recommended to have a 3rd party witness or, record a video on your phone and use good sportsmanship.

9. FROZEN BALLS.

If an object ball is FROZEN to a rail, that rail does not count. It MUST touch another rail OR the cue ball OR any ball must touch a rail. Failing to do so will result in a foul, and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

If the cue ball is FROZEN to the object ball, push shots are NOT allowed. Doing so will result in a foul and the opposing player will have ball in hand. You must shoot away from the object ball that is frozen. It is recommended to have a 3rd witness or, record a video on your phone and use good sportsmanship.

10. SCRATCHES.

All scratches will result in ball in hand unless it is on the break or while shooting the 8 ball (see rule #11)

If a player scratches on the break it is NOT ball in hand.

It is a loss of turn and an OPEN TABLE for the opposing player. The opposing player can shoot from anywhere BEHIND THE LINE and MUST shoot a ball that is OUTSIDE the line.

If the shooter wants to shoot any ball that’s behind the line, the player MUST past the line first, touch any rail and come back.

11. SCRATCHING ON THE 8 BALL.

If a player makes the 8 ball in the WRONG pocket, it will result in a loss of game and the opposing player wins the game.

If a player is shooting the 8 ball and fails to strike it, or, strikes the opposing players ball or fails to touch a rail is NOT a loss of game. It is a loss of turn and the opposing player will have ball in hand.

12. WINNING THE GAME.

After making all the balls in your category successfully, players MUST call the pocket for the 8 ball. If successful, that player wins the game.

There are NO TIMEOUTS in RAX.

However, during Scotch Doubles, teammates are allowed to talk to each other as much as they choose to.
